My food philosophy is based on choosing foods that are healthy, delicious and are as close to their natural state as possible. I don’t necessarily subscribe to one diet and believe that there’s no right or wrong way to eat healthily. We’re all individual with individual nutritional requirements. However, one thing’s for sure, we all need to eat whole, fresh, nutritious foods.

My approach to eating is based around the following principles:

1) EAT NATURAL

Eating foods that have been as minimally processed as possible has to be the number one priority. A good rule of thumb to live by is anything with an extensive ingredients list should be avoided… and watch out for ingredients that sound like a science experiment! In fact, if it comes in any type of package, be suspect! With that in mind, I recommend my clients to try and avoid processed and convenience foods. These foods tend to be loaded with salts and sugars to make them taste ‘better’, but are devoid of any nutritional value.

2) MINIMAL TIME / INGREDIENTS / APPLIANCES REQUIRED

I want to show my clients how easy and delicious healthy food can be. I know what it’s like to work 45+ hours a week in a fast-paced and stressful environment and know that feeling of getting home after a long day and just wanting something quick and easy to eat rather than spending hours in the kitchen! My programmes contain recipes that are not only delicious, but are also easy and quick to follow.

Don’t get me wrong - there are some amazing food bloggers out there and it’s so great to see so many of them with such huge following! It’s certainly very refreshing. However, I find a lot of the recipes I come across online (and have subsequently tried and tested!) Contain a rather long and obscure ingredient list that just aren’t easy to find! They often take hours to prepare, and require all sorts of different cooking processes and equipment. This is far from ideal for someone who wants to eat healthily on a budget! The recipes I recommend to clients will always include minimal yet quality ingredients, using 1 to 2 cooking appliances at the most.

3) LOW COST

I want to debunk the myth that healthy eating is expensive and hope the recipes I offer and the programmes I devise will do just that. I honestly believe that if you shop smart, be mindful of waste, get to grips on batch cooking and really get to know your way around the kitchen, there’s no reason why healthy eating has to cost more!

4) IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

This way of eating is not about never being able to enjoy a warm chocolate fudge brownie or a plate of cheesy nachos ever again but I want my clients to choose food they enjoy and love the taste of - just like I do! I truly believe that food should be about pleasure and enjoyment, not shaming or guilt. Simply put, it just has to be about balance, moderation and variety.
