Functional Testing

Are you struggling to get to the root cause
of your symptoms?

Many of the women I coach are often experiencing a range of symptoms from period problems (heavy, painful, irregular or non-existent!), PMS, headaches, digestive problems fatigue, bloating, mood swings, anxiety, sleep issues, breast tenderness, fertility problems or hormonal conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts or fibroids. With these women, I almost always recommend they undertake some form of functional testing to give us real insight into what factors may be driving these issues.  Functional testing can help provide you with reassurance to explain why you may be struggling with a particular condition or symptom... even if previous investigations have come back 'normal'! Testing can be done in the comfort of your own home, at your convenience and results (depending on the test) can take as little as three days to be analysed.

Why test?

  • Get to the root cause quickly; a functional test allows us to identify the underlying causes of your health condition and take the guesswork out.

  • Convenient testing done in the comfort of your own home.

  • You suspect you have an imbalance but aren't getting anywhere with your Doctor.

  • You want a targeted personalised health improvement plan that addresses your unique test results and health history.

I work with the leading private medical and functional testing laboratories to help us to determine the right course of action for you. Each testing programme includes carefully selected medical, nutritional and functional tests that give an overview of body systems including hormonal health and nutrient status.

When the results are in, I’ll then create a personalised health improvement plan to address your hormone, digestive or other nutrient imbalances (rather than just the symptoms) to get the results you want. If you want to find out more about functional testing and whether it will help you, feel free to book in a free discovery call and I’ll be happy to help.

I recommend my clients assess their baseline vitamin D levels at least once a year and supplement accordingly. If you are struggling to get this tested via your GP, we can do this fairly inexpensively via a private laboratory.

A simple finger-prick blood test for vitamin D which is vital for strong bones, sleep, healthy immune function, energy, digestive health and mood.

Q: But I’ve already had some tests done with my GP, and everything is normal with 'no further action required'. However, I'm still feeling rubbish so would it still be beneficial for me to do some testing?

Answer: You may well have had some tests done by your GP (which I am more than happy to review as part of the programme, as long as they have been done within the last 3 months) that have come back with 'no further action required'. However, one thing to note is that what we often see when looking at normal blood test results is that they may well be normal, but are far from optimal!  You can still have unwanted symptoms such as low mood, stubborn weight gain, fatigue and hair loss and still have normal blood work, as your levels aren’t ‘optimal’ - it's just not something that many health professional look at. Check out my article on normal vs optimal blood test ranges for more information on this. Many of the tests I offer are incredibly comprehensive due to the cutting-edge technology used by the private testing laboratories and will often far surpass other standardised tests due to the high level of detail in the results.

For as long as I can remember, I have suffered with very painful and heavy periods. More recently, I had been experiencing severe PMS – which included anxiety and low mood. My anxiety had gotten so bad (especially the week or two before my period) that I was even told by my doctor to try anti-depressants.  After Hayley’s recommendations, I did a DUTCH test to find out the root cause of my problems. After getting the results, Hayley advised me on some changes and additions to my diet as well as supplements to help correct my hormone imbalance that addressed the root cause of my PMS, hormonal acne and periods that had run my life for so long. In just a matter of months with Hayley’s amazing work and knowledge, things completely changed. I am now feeling better than I have in such a long time and I feel like my cycle is no longer running my life! Hayley - you are absolutely amazing, professional, passionate and I am forever grateful for your help. Thank you so much.
